Individual Headshots & Branding

+ What should I wear and which colors work best?

Solid, mid to dark tones (blues, greys, deep greens) typically look best as they keep the focus on your face. Avoid busy patterns, neon colors, or large logos. I recommend bringing 2-3 different outfits so we can capture a range of “looks,” from formal and corporate to creative and approachable.

+ Should I smile or go for a more serious expression?

Both! We will experiment with a variety of expressions. A warm smile is great for LinkedIn, while a neutral, confident “power” look works well for legal or corporate bios. I’ll guide your posing and expressions to ensure you look natural, even if you’ve never had professional photos taken before.

+ I’m not photogenic can you make me look good?

Most people feel awkward on camera. My job is to use professional lighting, technical lens choices, and specific posing direction to highlight your best angles. I don’t “take” a photo, I build one that ensures you look confident and authentic.

+ How should I prepare my hair and makeup?

Keep it natural and “standard” for your industry. Avoid a brand-new hairstyle the day of the shoot. For makeup, a matte finish is best to reduce shine under studio lights. I provide professional retouching to handle temporary blemishes, stray hairs, and skin smoothing while keeping you looking like yourself.

+ How often should I update my professional headshot?

Generally, every 2 years or whenever you have a significant change in appearance. Your headshot is your digital handshake; it needs to look like the person who walks into the meeting today.

+ What are the specific technical requirements for an ERAS headshot?

For a residency application to be technically perfect, I provide images that meet the exact ERAS standards: a 2.5 x 3.5-inch crop at 150 DPI (resulting in 375 x 525 pixels), a file size under 150 KB, and a neutral, professional background.

Group & Team Portraits

+ How do we coordinate clothing for a large group or team?

Aim for “coordinating” rather than “matching.” Choose a color palette (like earthy tones or shades of blue) and have everyone pick an outfit within that range. This creates a balanced, professional look for company use without looking like a uniform.

+ How do you ensure everyone in a large group is sharp and engaged?

I use technical settings and occasionally focus-stacking to ensure the front row is just as sharp as the back. I also take multiple bursts to “head swap” in post-production if someone blinks or looks away, ensuring the final image is perfect for everyone.

+ How do you handle different heights and body types in a group?

I avoid flat rows. I use staggered posing, varying head heights with stools, and creative arrangements like a “U-shape.” This makes the group look balanced and prevents a flat, one-dimensional feel.

+ How long does a group session take compared to individuals?

Group shots typically take 20 to 40 minutes to pose. For corporate teams, I can set up a mobile studio at your office to efficiently rotate through individuals while keeping your team’s schedule productive.

Technical & Delivery

+ What do I receive after the session?

I deliver fully edited, high-resolution JPEGs via a private online gallery. These files are optimized for LinkedIn, websites, and high quality printing. My professional editing ensures color, lighting, and detail meet professional standards.

+ What kind of retouching is included?

Standard retouching includes color correction, exposure adjustment, and light blemish removal. Advanced retouching such as background removal or complex clothing fixes is available as an add-on service.
